There's no need to submit yourself to those harsh dressing room fluorescent lights now that Zugara's augmented reality dressing room app, Fashionista, has made it into the real world. The app is now being put to use on the online shopping site tobi.com. Shoppers use an AR marker to help them get into the right fitting position. With a simple flick of the wrist they can see how they fare in the site's different fashions. If shoppers can't decide if that bright pinks dress makes them look fat, they can take a picture and upload it to Facebook to get friends' opinions.

This is a hlsl based node system for creating real-time effects. It very fast; runs at around 200 fps with a few typical filters (edge detect, blur, colorgradients, perlin noise) and I have never seen it go below 60 fps. It does this at HD resolutions. It has a few very nice filters like "time to geometry" : It does a treshold on video and builds geometry around the edges with marching cubes, connecting each frame with the previous one. Build with xna.

Sniff is an interactive public projection in a storefront window: an animated dog follows passers-by, discerns their behavior as friendly or aggressive, tries to engage them in a play and forms a relationship with them based on the history of the interaction.

Sniff is created with Unity3d Game Engine which renders the dog in real time and allows to dynamically change his behavior based on the video tracking data. The sidewalk is illuminated with infrared lights and an infrared-sensitive camera that is used to monitor the sidewalk in front of the display windows. The position of each viewer is tracked and simple gesture recognition implemented, so that fast, big actions are interpreted as threatening and slow actions directed at the dog (for example hand extended in his direction) are interpreted as friendly. The dog keeps track of the attitude of the viewer and forms a relationship with them over time based on the history of interaction.

The hands on the screen belong to James Paterson. He is using "Rhonda", a 3D drawing tool developed by Amit Pitaru circa 2003.
The first half of the video shows James doing a drawing start to finish. In the second part James is cycling through various previous drawings, created between 2004 and 2005.
For the last several years Rhonda has been shown in galleries, museums, festivals and conferences. We are excited to finally release this video online (about time!).
Even more exciting is that our good friends Zach Lieberman (openframeworks) and Zach Gage (synthpond) have just joined the Rhonda Team! With their help we will be creating stable releases of Rhonda for various platforms.

It's a collaboration with an urban artist collective around Ben Frost, Numskull, DMOTE and KidZoom. Interactive in the sense that visitors use a camera to go back in time and see the beginning of the painting.
